What we offer and why you need it

Welcome to OJ-UGANDA, where sharp analysis, thought-provoking opinions and evidence-based journalism come together. We do not just throw content at you—we give you insight, and we make sure there is something in our content to learn.
This guide will help you navigate our content categories/sections so you know exactly where to find what works for you—and why it matters.
About
Before you dive into our content, take a moment to understand what OJ-UGANDA is all about.
Our Mission
We are redefining the relevance of traditional media by offering a trusted alternative to social media. Social media is now the primary news source for many people, but much of the information found there—unless it is from reputable organisations—is unreliable. Fake news, disinformation and barefaced lies spread fast, making it difficult to separate fact from fiction. Many news and information consumers struggle to tell credible sources from misleading ones.
That is where OJ-UGANDA comes in. While we do not aim to reach every Ugandan, we are here for readers who need high-quality, fact-checked information—a standard that even some Ugandan and non-Ugandan traditional media outlets sometimes fail to meet due to vested interests.
We will not focus on routine news reporting like daily newspapers do. Instead, we will publish deeply reported public-interest news, in-depth interviews and rigorously verified content. When you read OJ-UGANDA, you can be sure that what you are seeing has been obsessively checked for accuracy.
How OJ-UGANDA Operates
You can read more here. In this guide, we raise important questions and provide answers. For example, how do we decide what to cover? What is our editorial process? This section deals with these questions and more.
News & Literacy
If you want facts, context and clarity, this section is for you.
Brief But Hot
Brings you short, sharp takes on stories of great public interest: politically charged, emotionally raw or socially explosive. These are not long reads, but they pack a punch. When something happens that demands attention now, you will find it here.
Beyond Uganda
Gives you the world in snapshots: fast, focused and essential. These are international stories that matter, stripped down to what you need to know, when you need to know it.
Biz Pulse
Is your fast, sharp fix of business news. We unpack the moves and money shaping Uganda’s economy and sometimes the world’s. Quick reads, sharp insights because business doesn’t wait.
OJ Fact Checks
Misinformation is everywhere on the internet. Who is twisting the facts? Who is telling lies? We fact-check claims, speeches and trending topics with cold, hard evidence. If it is misleading, we will bring it to your attention.
Media Literacy
Many people may be news consumers, but they really do not understand how the media works. This is part of the reason some people do not trust journalists and think some news outlets deliberately disseminate fake news.
If you want facts and clarity about how the media works and why it is hard for a news organisation to routinely engage in disseminating lies or fake content, as many believe these days, this section is for you. You will learn many things you did not know. For example, how opinions and/or commentaries are distinct from hard news, and why news organisations label content to guide readers.
Why Media Literacy matters? Well, if you know how the media operates, you will have compelling reasons to trust them.
Writing & Grammar Tips
Great writing is an integral part of communication. It is not only for journalists or lawyers; it is for everyone who wants to communicate effectively. Even AI chatbots work well when given prompts that are written clearly and accurately. And while many people these days are relying on AI chatbots for writing, people who can spot errors chatbots are making tend to have strong writing skills.
Interviews
We talk to people who matter—whether they are shaping events or offering unique perspectives. These are our in-depth, hard-hitting interviews with newsmakers, experts and influential voices. If someone is making headlines, we go beyond the soundbites to get the full story.
Opinions & Commentary
For those who love debate and sharp analysis, this is your zone. Under this section, we have:
The Founder’s Mind Space
Founder and Editorial Director Musaazi Namiti writes a weekly columnist for Sunday Monitor and will continue delivering hard-hitting opinions and thought-provoking commentary. A veteran journalist, he is known for his direct approach. While he does not claim to hold absolute truths, his views are grounded in fact, shaped by many years of professional and life experience and crafted to the highest standards imaginable. Expect bold, unfiltered takes on politics, media and society that cut through the noise. If you appreciate strong, evidence-based arguments, the Founder’s Mind Space is a must-read.
Sunday Thought
Cuts through the noise of prayer, piety and superstition to ask the questions most people avoid. It discusses God, faith and religion—not to preach, but to probe, challenge and sometimes unsettle. Whether you believe, doubt or have stopped looking altogether, Sunday Thought will make you think, question and maybe even rethink everything you thought you knew about the divine—and about life itself.
Voice of the Moment
Is your go-to for commentary that won’t pause, wait or soften. Political fallout, moral reckoning, social quake. If it stirs the national conversation, it lands here. Not long reads. Bold reflections.
Obituaries
Mark the end of a life, but they also honor the stories, achievements, and legacies that remain. When someone important or beloved passes, this is where their story lives on.
